Common Silencer Myths With Dustin Ellermann
I came across this interesting video that discusses common silencer or suppressor myths from those that aren't familiar with them. I have found that now that I have bought a couple rimfire suppressors, many people that ask me about them, just don't know much about what suppressors do and how an individual can own one.
A lot of this misinformation comes from the depiction of suppressors in movies and video games. The ways that they are used in those forms of media is usually very unrealistic. The sound appears to be whisper quiet every time and it seems like suppressed ammo is weak and less accurate.
The video below shows Top Shot competitor Dustin Ellermann talking with Silencershop about some of the common myths and why they are not correct. If you aren't real familiar with suppressors, or you just want to be able to explain to friends and family how they really work, check out the short video:
These are certainly not the only myths, there are plenty of others going around. What are some of the myths that you have heard or even used to believe about suppressors? The suppressor market and demand has grown exponentially over the last few years. A large part of that has been due to the suppressor manufacturers advertising and working to educate the public and shooters about suppressor ownership.
As an example, check out Silencerco's page; Are silencers legal?
As the market grows, more and more people have come to realize that despite a longer purchase process compared to most firearms, suppressors have plenty of advantages that allow shooters to enjoy their firearms even more.
